Empowered women making powerful coffee. Doesn’t get much better than that. And the woman at the center of it all? Jewell Dyer. With a natural-born talent for people, business, and of course coffee, Jewell turned her dream of crafting caffeinated drinks into a reality through her creation of Kini Koffee, a coastal coffee shop in Del Mar, CA. Once we’ve officially introduced you to the maker herself, we’ll let Jewell and her fellow female baristas introduce you to your next favorite drink.
Q: Tell us about your business!
A: "Kini Koffee is a female-owned and operated beachy coffee shop! We love creating delicious, unique coffee and strive to spark joy with everyone we meet!"
Q: What inspired you to start making?
A: "I have been an entrepreneur since age seven, when I started my first lemonade stand. I knew I was going to own a coffee shop by age 16 after working for Starbucks for a month. After moving to San Diego and finishing school I knew it was time to start building Kini Koffee and I dove in headfirst and never looked back!"
Q: Walk us through your creative process...
A: "I create best when I’m having fun! I love to go rollerblading or play beach volleyball to get my endorphins pumping. Then, once I’ve showered off, I will lay on my bed and do a 10-15 minute meditation, which usually sparks what feels like a high vibration idea or download that I simply write down and make. A lot of my favorite drinks come to me in the middle of the night in dreams, but the key is to document them and take action towards making that vision happen."
Q: What would you say makes your business special?
A: "Girls only!! We are a family of women who uplift each other and create together! Kini Koffee is a place where women can work, make great money, and learn to operate a coffee shop for themselves. And not to mention we are all SUPER kind. It’s our goal to make everyone feel happier after interacting with us. Oh… and the coffee is bomb!"
Q: What do you see for the future of your business?
A: "I see us caffeinating all of SoCal! We will be opening a second location soon, and hope to spread love, coffee, and kindness to all of San Diego."
